About Bodensee / Nussdorf Surfclub, Germany
Bodensee thermal afternoons bring consistent wind in spring and fall, but Alpine gusts shift hard. Shallow flats suit progression; cold water demands a hood year-round.

Launch notes
Flat water conditions ideal for freestyle and learning; launch from club beach when wind is aligned with WSW or ENE directions. Avoid launches during cross-shore winds that push riders toward obstacles.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring 14-17m kites for light average winds (6.5 kts); twin-tip boards or directional boards are best for flat water freestyle. Have smaller 12m kite available for stronger gusts typical in spring/fall.
Clothing · 3/2mm or 4/3mm wetsuit recommended year-round; water temps rarely exceed 20°C even in summer. Winter months (Dec-Feb) require 5/4mm thicker suits for extended sessions.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect the club's local protocols and check-in procedures; coordinate with other riders to avoid crowded launch zones and maintain safe distances during light wind sessions.
Additional notes
Best wind consistency occurs in spring (Mar-Apr) and fall (Sep-Oct); check local Alpine weather patterns as morning thermals can create reliable afternoon winds. The Bodensee's shallow shelves near Nussdorf are forgiving for progression riders.
