Launch notes
The flat water and sandy beach provide excellent launch conditions for beginners. Westerly wind directions offer consistent offshore/sideshore conditions for safe progression.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Pack kite sizes 14-17m for the average 11.4 kt wind; many days will require larger kites or require waiting for stronger conditions. A directional or twin-tip board works well on the flat water.
Clothing · Wear a 5/4mm wetsuit year-round due to cold Øresund water; consider 6/5mm during winter months (Nov-Mar). Spring and fall require gloves and hood protection.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect designated swimming areas and share the spot with other water sports enthusiasts. Maintain awareness of other kiters and maintain adequate spacing during sessions.
Additional notes
Check local spot reports as wind can be inconsistent; the spot is best during Jan-Mar and Sep-Dec. Amager offers excellent beginner progression with minimal swell interference from the protected flat-water environment.
