Launch notes
The flat water and sandy beach provide ideal beginner launch conditions with minimal obstacles. North and northwest winds are most consistent, making morning sessions optimal.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring 14-17m kites to handle the moderate 13kt average winds, with a 12m for stronger days. A directional or hybrid board works best on flat water for learning and progression.
Clothing · A lightweight 3/2mm wetsuit or rash guard is sufficient year-round due to warm Red Sea temperatures (24-29°C). Sun protection is critical—use high-SPF sunscreen and consider a long-sleeve rashguard.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect the organized school zones and stay clear of tourist swimming areas, especially during peak hours. Follow local guide instructions regarding safe launch corridors and reef boundaries.
Additional notes
Book lessons through established schools to ensure proper site orientation and safety briefings. The consistent 217 windy days per year make this an excellent destination for skill progression despite the beginner rating.
