Launch notes
Flat water makes this ideal for beginners, but the small sandy launch area can get crowded. Best to launch early morning when ENE/E winds are steady and thermal effects minimal.
Gear & clothing
Gear · 11.5-knot average calls for a 15–17m² kite for lighter riders and 13–15m² for heavier ones. Twintip or directional boards work well; flat water forgives mistakes for progression.
Clothing · Water temperature stays 78–82°F year-round, so a lightweight 2–3mm rashguard offers sun protection without bulk. Booties recommended for coral protection.
Crowd & etiquette
Local spots can be territorial; greet other kiters and respect established launch zones. Stay clear of swimmers and fishing areas, especially during holidays.
Additional notes
June–July and January–February offer the most consistent trade winds; avoid September–October hurricane season. Fresh water is scarce on the beach—bring plenty to drink.
