Launch notes
Launch from the sandy sections away from rocks, preferably during westerly wind directions (W, WNW, WSW) which are most consistent. Watch for chop buildup and time your launch during calmer periods between wave sets.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring 14-17m kites to handle the light average winds (10.6 kts); directional boards or wave boards are ideal for choppy conditions. Consider a larger quiver since consistent wind days are limited (38/year).
Clothing · A 3-5mm wetsuit is suitable for tropical waters, especially during the cooler monsoon months; summer months may require only board shorts or a rash guard. Rinse gear thoroughly after sessions due to salt water corrosion.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect the local fishing community and avoid launching near their nets; share the water responsibly with swimmers and give right-of-way to other riders. Check with local kite schools about any spot-specific conventions.
Additional notes
July is your peak window—plan trips around this month for the best conditions. Check local weather forecasts and monsoon patterns carefully, as conditions can change rapidly and safely dramatically.
