Launch notes
Launch from the sandy beach when winds favor WNW to W directions for cleanest conditions. The choppy ocean requires a cautious entry; scout launch spots during tide changes to avoid strong currents near the launch zone.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring 14m-17m kites for the average 11.2 kt conditions; a wave or freestyle board works well for choppy waters. Consider bringing a larger 19m kite as backup for lighter wind days, especially during shoulder seasons.
Clothing · A 3mm or 2mm spring suit is sufficient year-round given Goa's tropical climate; water temperature stays warm (24-28°C). Rash guards and board shorts are popular during peak wind season (March, May, July).
Crowd & etiquette
Respect local fishermen and their nets, particularly in early mornings and evenings. Share the water respectfully with other water sports users and maintain safe distances from swimmers and boats.
Additional notes
July offers the most consistent winds during monsoon season but brings heavy rain and challenging conditions; March and May provide more stable weather. Check local conditions at beach shacks before heading out, as wind patterns can vary significantly day-to-day.
