Launch notes
Sanur's flat water and sandy beach provide excellent launch conditions for beginners. SE and ESE winds are most consistent; launch from the main beach area during low tide to maximize flat-water riding zones.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring a 14-17m kite to handle the light average winds (10.7 kts); consider a 12m for stronger days. A directional or freestyle board works well on the flat water, making it ideal for learning tricks and freestyle progression.
Clothing · A lightweight 2-3mm rashguard or shorty wetsuit is sufficient year-round due to warm tropical waters. Sun protection and quick-dry clothing are more important than thermal insulation.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect local beach users, swimmers, and fishing activities by staying downwind and maintaining safe distance. Coordinate with other kiters to avoid tangled lines in the popular flat-water zone.
Additional notes
July is peak season with consistent SE winds and the most stable conditions—book accommodations and lessons early. The shallow, protected waters make Sanur perfect for progression, but always check local wind forecasts and tide tables before heading out.
