Launch notes

Launch from the flat water lagoons on the leeward side of the island, avoiding shallow reef zones. Best launches occur during ESE and SE wind directions when offshore conditions are cleanest.

Gear & clothing

Gear · Bring 14-17m kites to handle the moderate 12.5kt average winds, with a 12m as backup for stronger days. A directional or twin-tip board works well for flat water progression and freestyle.

Clothing · A 2-3mm rashguard or thin wetsuit provides sun protection and warmth; water temperatures stay warm year-round near the equator. Reef booties are essential for protection when walking through shallow areas.

Crowd & etiquette

Respect local fishing areas and obtain permission before launching from inhabited sections of the island. Share the water respectfully with local fishermen and other water users.

Additional notes

The dry season (May-September) offers the most consistent winds; plan your visit accordingly. Check locally about current conditions and any seasonal restrictions before traveling, as weather patterns can vary.
