Launch notes
Launch from the beach when WSW-W winds are blowing offshore; choppy conditions mean gradual entry is essential. Avoid launching during strong southerly flows that create messy cross-shore chop.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring 14-17m kites for the average 11.5kt wind; having a range handles the variable Baltic conditions. A directional wave board or twin-tip hybrid works best for choppy water control.
Clothing · Wear a 5/4mm winter wetsuit October-April and 4/3mm in summer months; Baltic water rarely exceeds 18°C. Hood and booties are essential year-round.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect other water users and local fishing activities common in this region. Keep a safe distance from swimmers and maintain awareness of boat traffic in the area.
Additional notes
Plan visits around the best months (Jan, Mar, Apr, Oct, Nov, Dec) when windy days peak; summer is inconsistent. Check local weather forecasts carefully as conditions can change rapidly on the exposed Lithuanian coast.
