Launch notes
Launch from the beach by wading out through choppy waters; northern wind directions (NNE, N, NE) provide the most consistent conditions. Scout your launch zone for rocks and approach perpendicular to swell.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Pack 14-17m kites for the moderate 11.8 kt average winds; wave boards are ideal for choppy Atlantic conditions. Bring a smaller 12m kite for stronger wind days (common in peak season).
Clothing · A 3-4mm wetsuit year-round for Atlantic water temps; thinner suits (2-3mm) work in summer months (May-Jun). Water temps range from cool to moderate depending on season.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect local swimmers and other beach users; coordinate with other kiters to manage limited space during crowded sessions. Be aware of local customs and dress appropriately on the beach.
Additional notes
Best conditions occur March-June with NNE and N winds dominating; aim for 115 windy days scattered throughout the year. Check tide conditions as they affect launch zones and navigate local knowledge from other kiters at the beach.
