Launch notes
Launch from the beach when NE and ENE winds dominate, as they blow cross-shore with good consistency. Avoid launching during SW wind transitions due to choppy conditions and cross-current complications on the ocean.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Use 14-17m kites for average 11.9kt winds, with a slightly larger quiver for lighter wind days. A directional or wave board is ideal for managing choppy conditions and quick maneuvering around hazards.
Clothing · A 2-3mm springsuit or rash guard is sufficient year-round due to warm tropical waters (26-28°C). Minimal wetsuit needed but sun protection and quick-dry clothing are essential.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect the busy tourist environment and coordinate with local water sports operators to avoid conflicts with boats and other water users. Share the limited kite zone with other riders and follow local guides' instructions regarding safe riding areas.
Additional notes
Best conditions occur during northeast monsoon months (Dec-Apr); plan your trip accordingly for optimal wind. Always check local conditions with beach operators before launching, as seasonal monsoons can create unpredictable wind patterns.
