Amenities

Camsur Watersports Complex facilities including equipment rental and repair shopsNearby accommodation and food vendors catering to watersports touristsProfessional instruction and guide services available on-siteSafety equipment and rescue personnel stationed during peak season

Hazards

Choppy ocean conditions with unpredictable wave sets require advanced wave reading skillsStrong currents and offshore wind directions (NNE, N) can push riders away from shore rapidlyRocky outcrops and reef areas common in Philippine coastal zones present collision risksTropical squalls and sudden wind shifts during monsoon transitions (Jul-Jan) demand constant vigilance

Launch notes

Launch from the complex beach during SSW and SW winds for offshore/side-offshore conditions that prevent onshore chop buildup. Avoid NNE and N wind directions which blow directly offshore, creating dangerous drift conditions away from assistance.

Gear & clothing

Gear · Use 14-17m kites for the light average wind (7.5 kts), with a wave or freestyle-wave board to handle the choppy ocean conditions and occasional swell. Bring multiple kite sizes since wind is marginal and variable.

Clothing · A 3-4mm full wetsuit is recommended year-round due to tropical water temperatures and the need for protection during wipeouts in choppy conditions. Booties protect feet from reef and rocky hazards.

Crowd & etiquette

Respect the organized layout of the watersports complex and communicate with other kiters and jet-ski operators. Yield to local guides and instructors who manage traffic flow through the launch and landing zones.

Additional notes

Camsur hosts international competitions and is best visited during peak season (Jul, Sep, Oct-Jan) when wind is most consistent and facilities are fully staffed. Plan sessions early morning before thermal winds and afternoon squalls develop.
