Launch notes
Launch from the sandy beach area during NW/WNW wind conditions for cleanest conditions; avoid ESE winds which create cross-shore chop. Choppy water requires skilled launching technique and awareness of current direction.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Pack 14-17m kites for average 11kt winds; bring multiple sizes as winter winds vary significantly. Use wave boards or directional boards designed for choppy ocean conditions with good edge control.
Clothing · Wear 4-5mm winter wetsuit during peak season (Dec-Mar) as water temperatures drop significantly; summer (Jun-Aug) requires 2-3mm. Water temperature ranges from 8°C in winter to 25°C in summer.
Crowd & etiquette
Respect other water users and communicate clearly with fellow kiters in crowded conditions. Follow Korean beach regulations and check with local operators regarding exclusive use areas.
Additional notes
Best conditions occur during Feb-Mar and Dec-Jan winter months when stable NW winds reach 15+ knots; avoid summer typhoon season. Check local forecasts and tide tables as tidal range affects launch area accessibility.
