Launch notes
The flat water and sandy beach make Albir ideal for launching, with best conditions on NE and ENE winds that blow cross-onshore. Light, consistent winds mean you'll need patient timing and may prefer early morning or afternoon sessions during peak season.
Gear & clothing
Gear · Bring a 17m+ kite for the average 8kt winds, as this spot requires larger canvases for consistent riding. A directional or twin-tip board works well in the flat water conditions; avoid wave boards as the ocean swell is minimal.
Clothing · A 3/2mm wetsuit is suitable for most months, though lighter protection (2mm or rashguard) works in summer (Jun-Aug) when Mediterranean water warms up. Winter sessions (Jan-Feb) may require 4/3mm thickness.
Crowd & etiquette
Keep clear of swimmers and sunbathers, especially during summer months when the beach is crowded. Respect other water users and maintain awareness of fellow kiters' space in the typically light wind conditions.
Additional notes
Check tide levels before launching as shallow zones and rocks become hazards at low tide. Winter months (Jan, Oct) offer the most consistent wind, making them ideal for planning your visit despite cooler water temperatures.
