Gear & clothing

Gear · Bring 14-17m kites to maximize light wind days averaging 8.6 knots; a twin-tip or beginner-friendly directional board works well in flat water conditions. Consider a quiver approach since windy days are limited to 29 annually.

Clothing · A thin 2-3mm wetsuit is adequate year-round due to warm tropical waters (26-29°C), though UV protection shirts are highly recommended. Reef booties protect feet during shallow-water launching and landing.

Crowd & etiquette

Respect local fishing waters and give priority to traditional boats; coordinate with other kiters to maintain safe spacing in the relatively compact bay area. Always check with local guides about seasonal restrictions and protected zones.

Additional notes

September through February offers the most consistent winds; July and August are secondary peaks but can see occasional rain. Check tide tables before sessions as shallow areas become very limited at low tide, restricting launch zones.
