Amenities

Basic local beach facilities and nearby Phan Rang town for suppliesSmall restaurants and guesthouses catering to touristsLocal water sports rental shops with equipment availability

Hazards

Shallow flat water near shore with potential underwater obstacles and rocky areasStrong tidal currents common in coastal Vietnam requiring awareness of water movementLocal fishing activity and boat traffic in the areaSudden wind shifts and gusty conditions during seasonal transitions

Launch notes

The flat water and ocean setting make for ideal beginner conditions with easy launching from the beach. NE and NNE winds are most consistent; launch when wind is steady and perpendicular to shore.

Gear & clothing

Gear · Use 14-17m kites for the 11.4kt average winds; smaller boards work well in flat water conditions. Consider a versatile all-around or freestyle board for maximum enjoyment in these light to moderate winds.

Clothing · A thin 2-3mm wetsuit is suitable for tropical Vietnam; however, boardshorts and a rash guard suffice during warmer months (Nov-Mar). Water temperature remains warm year-round.

Crowd & etiquette

Respect local fishermen and their nets; stay aware of other water users in this popular area. Keep a safe distance from other kiters and follow local guidelines for beach usage.

Additional notes

Peak season runs November to March with the most consistent NE winds; July offers secondary conditions with SW winds. Arrive early morning for best wind and fewer crowds, and check local tide tables as flat water can become very shallow.
